The best way to install phpmyadmin in ubuntu is via “xampp” local server. It is very easy and fast installation.
- Download xampp for ubuntu from here: https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html. (You need to choose the correct xampp version that match to your php version that installed on your ubuntu. to see your php version , enter to the terminal and type “php -v”).
- After you download xampp, enter to your terminal and navigate to the folder you downloaded xampp, enter the comment “sudo ./xampp-linux-x64….. run” (This is an example , after ./ you need to write the correct name of the file with (.run) in the end)
- Click couple of times “next” until the installation will begin. after the installation click finish.
- After the installation , navigate to the installation folder via terminal – “/opt/lampp/” and then enter “sudo ./lampp start”.
Now you are starting the xampp server.
If you want to enter to the phpmyadmin you need to know what is the correct Apache Web Server port number. To get this number go to the xampp panel by enter in the terminal “sudo ./manager-linux-x64.run”.
After you want this commend , The xampp panel pop up and go to the manager server tab.
Then enter on the “Apache Web Server” and click “Configure”.
As you see in the photo , the web server port is 8081.
To enter to phpmyadmin enter the url in your browser: http://localhost:8081/phpmyadmin/
